One of the things you’ll notice about the JRS-34 right away is how light weight it is.  It’s very well constructed, but the materials just don’t weigh as much as those used in other mics.  This may feel a bit off at first, but it does mean you won’t need a crane to hold this thing up.  While the integral mount is somewhat limited, it will eventually be replaced with a new one that offers much more range.

The JRS-34 has a great output, and there’s no need to crank up the gain in the preamp at all.  It has a strong midrange that creates a nice amount of edge, too.  The mic can be successfully partnered with a number of other mics for recording, too.  The JRS-34 works well for guitars (although perhaps not acoustics), percussion instruments, and many different drums.

While the mount could (and is being) improved, the Cloud JRS-34 is a great deal for its price.  Its midrange is edgier and more usable than that provided by many other active ribbon mics.  It retains for $1,799.
